Sandra G. Saunders Law Attorney Practice Areas

Divorce Mediation

At Saunders and Saunders, we recognize our client’s desire for a peaceful and amicable solution to the dissolution of their marriage.  As such, we offer our divorce mediation services as an alternative to traditional divorce litigation. There are many advantages to mediating your case to a conclusion versus engaging in litigation.  Litigation is costly.

Litigation is time-consuming. Litigation is often adversarial and fraught with emotion.  Mediation is far less expensive.  Mediation takes much less time than traditional litigation. Mediation, while still emotional, allows you to deal with sensitive topics in the privacy of the mediator’s office versus in a courtroom filled with the general public, lawyers, and judges.  Finally, when you litigate your case in a courtroom, you are putting the fate of your family in the hands of a judge who doesn’t know your family.  Mediation allows you to make decisions that are best for your particular family.

Divorce Litigation

If your case is one that cannot be handled with Divorce Mediation, Saunders and Saunders can represent you in the courtroom.  I have spent 30 years as a family law litigator and mediator.  My approach is to always listen to the client and determine what their particular situation needs.  Once I understand the client’s need, I tailor my approach to obtain the desired result.

I believe the best approach to litigation cases is to handle them logically and rationally versus engaging in unnecessary and expensive drama.  I approach each litigated case methodically and calmly until we get the best, most efficient result for the client.

Child Custody and Child Support

At Saunders and Saunders, we help families navigate the complex terrain of child custody disputes. Custody cases are, without question, among the most challenging for parents, lawyers, and judges alike. While it is always best to resolve these cases collaboratively, we understand that a mediated solution isn’t always possible.

With over 30 years of experience dealing with these sensitive issues, our office is uniquely equipped to guide you through every aspect of custody. We can help you address the various areas of custody that need to be considered and develop parenting plans that work best for you and your children. Let us help you achieve the best possible outcome for your family.

Modification Actions

Unfortunately, many cases require the filing of Complaints for Modification, to change or eliminate an existing court order. As time goes by, your life changes, children grow and as a result, you may need to revisit certain issues that require a change.

I can review your case to determine if your situation meets the standard required to make  changes to a divorce agreement or judgment.   Modifications can also be mediated to a conclusion versus litigated.

Contempt Actions

Court Orders are not always followed.  As a result, you may need to file a Complaint for Contempt against the breaching party.  Our office can assist you in this process.

Alimony

An award of alimony requires one spouse to pay support to the other spouse to assist them with continuing to live the lifestyle they lived during the marriage.  It is a term fraught with negative and positive connotations depending on whether you seek alimony or pay it.  I can help you navigate this difficult issue to a conclusion.
